Ordes was underwhelming last night. Lots of bars open for drinks but no where for food! Even the hotel restaurant was closed. Lots of bars but no menu even later. Eventually found a bar with no one else in . The lady took pity and turned on the grills (took 20mimutes to heat up) to cook me a burger. Actually it was a very good burger but the glasses of wine while I waited were excellent and anything would have been excellent.
Left this morning as the sun was rising to try to get finished before it started to get too hot. Leaving Ordes
45 minutes back to the Camino route to first village with a bar for breakfast- closed! Only another 13.5 km till the next bar. Finding supplies on this Camino more unpredictable than the French way.

Also a lot more tarmac rather than off road

Stopped after a couple of hours for emergency biscuits and water. After this there was a long straight stretch on gravel track which at least was better. This section was dead straight for 7km (over 2hrs).

Hadn’t seen anyone all day except the very occasional car. Eventually reached Siguiero and breakfast.

And an ice cream as I left town. Very hot now 11.30.
Looking back over Siguiero after a hard pull up.
I Sat down here for a rest and saw the only 2 other pilgrims of the day. Felt so lazy as they marched past hardly fased- I don’t think they’re staying where I am, and only 11 km to Santiago so I’m sure they were going head down to get all the way there today.

Only another half hour to hotel San Vincente. I had a beer in the bar next door before checking in. I think I’m the only person staying here. I came down to hotel bar at 5 to do the blog and have a glass of wine. The only person I’ve seen working here reminds me of Manuel. He asked if I wanted supper (difficult as we neither speak each other’s language) and after I said yes he immediately went into kitchen and I could hear him chopping and preparing something. Don’t know what I’ll get! He keeps phoning someone from the kitchen as well – I suspect it might be his wife for recipe advice. Wish me luck!
