Day 16 Fromista to Carrion de Los Condes 20km

Relatively short day so didn’t start till 7.15   They do like their steel cutout artworks. This was just out of town.   Not the most scenic routes today. The shortest route is along the senda – a path alongside the road. Could have done this all way.   But after breakfast at bar in Poblacion de campos took an alternative route.

The alternative took you along track and beside a river for 11km but  added only 1 km to the senda route.

After a drink with this standoffish chap in Villalcazar de Sirga it was back onto the senda for the last 6km.        Arrived in carrion de Los Condes 12.30.   Had plenty of time, after checking in and shower, to wander. Stopped for a little refreshment as it was so hot. Had a cerveza – only cost one euro . And they brought me out this tapas. Reminded me I was a little peckish so had another beer (and tapas).

Warned that tomorrow after leaving town there is no food or water for 17km so need to go prepared. Sounds like walking in Wales.

  1. I worry about that ‘white squidgy thing’ you’ve eaten. Hope it wasn’t your supply of Compeed. (Everyone keeps telling me how fab they are for blisters, and warning not to go for cheap alternatives. No one’s warned me about digestive effects, so maybe you’ll be ok.)

  2. As it is about 27 degrees today I am feeling your thirst! The talk of tapas is making my stomach rumble, a great excuse to eat well tonight if food stops are sparse tomorrow.

    1. Light meal tonight €11 for half litre of very nice red and a baker of bread. Oh it came with a bowl of minestrone and mixed grill of beef, lamb, chorizo, Blackpool pudding, the first boiled potatoes and carrots I’ve seen since I’ve been here and a white squidgy thing I’m not sure what it was but it tasted ok, and a cornetto.
